Where do you live?
Second North River, near Salisbury, with my dairy-farming family.
What position do you hold on the board?
I’ve been on the Board for awhile, Treasurer for the last two years.
When did you start competing in triathlon?
It’s been about 6-7 years now.
Who is your favourite sports hero?
When the NIKE ad about Sister Madonna Buder (the Iron Nun) came out I couldn’t stop watching it. She’s the oldest woman to ever complete an Ironman at age 82.
What is the best part about competing?
I haven’t competed the last few years, but I enjoy the whole experience. I started officiating and that has been pretty cool.
What is your favourite sports quote?
“The expert in anything was once a beginner.” I taught PE at the elementary level for 20+ years and would often remind students of this.
Who do you wish was watching you compete at all your events?
I’d love to have all four of my children be able to watch, at the same time.
What is your favourite song to listen to – to get you pumped for competing?
An obscure British band called Toploader. They broke up years ago but I still love training to their music.
What is your favorite Triathlon race distance?
Standard and 70.3. I’ve never competed longer.
What is your favorite race?
Old Orchard Beach was fun!
How/Are you staying fit, healthy, and happy during this pandemic?
I’ve become an avid golfer. It has seriously impacted triathlon but I’m hanging on. Hiking, camping, and boating keep me going too!
Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of sport of triathlon?
I love to sew! I make a lot of my own activewear and will make my own tri kit someday.
What is your must-have training accessory?
I like swim training with a swim snorkel. It helps develop a balanced stroke.
