When did you start competing in triathlon?
In my early triathlon journey, my initial experience was as part of a team at the Parlee Beach Triathlon around 2005, where I completed the 5k run in 23:29. Eager to explore the sport further, I ventured into individual races, marking my solo debut at the 2009 Moncton Duathlon. That same summer, I tackled the challenges of both the Parlee Beach Sprint and The Sprint in Sackville.

Who is your favourite sports hero?
Tom Brady stands out not only for his incredible accomplishments but also for his remarkable longevity in playing his sport.

What is the best part about competing?
One of the aspects I truly cherish about competing is the incredible atmosphere. It’s the sight of people lining the course, cheering for everyone, that brings immense joy. Personally, when I take on longer distance triathlons like 70.3 and IRONMAN, reaching the FINISH LINE becomes an exceptionally fulfilling moment.

What is your favourite sports quote?
“I firmly believe that any man’s finest hour, the greatest fulfilment of all that he holds dear, is that moment when he has worked his heart out in a good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle – victorious.” Vince Lombardi

Who do you wish was watching you compete at all your events?
My mom for sure. She never got to see me race and passed away in 2019. I even raced the PEI Marathon a number of years ago because she lived there and could be at the finish line. Something came up that day and she couldn’t make it. I truly believe she hasn’t missed an event since he passing. I also love to have my kids cheer me on. Max and Olivia have been at many races and always bring a smile to my face when I see them on the course.

What is your favourite song to listen to – to get you pumped for competing?
The one that brings a smile to my face is Alive by Edwin. This song makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up every single time.

What is your favorite Triathlon race distance?
I would have to say that it is between Sprint and 70.3. I am always at a fitness level to do this distance. I would have to train specific to get a great time, but my goal is to always be able to complete.

What is your favourite race?
I would have to say IRONMAN 70.3 Mont-Tremblant. IRONMAN 70.3 Maine would be a close second. I have done a good number of courses over the years and IRONMAN 70.3 St. George is on the top of my current bucket list.

How/Are you staying fit, healthy, and happy during this pandemic?
I made the most out of it while the gyms and pools were closed. I worked on my weaknesses. In 2016 I had a bad crash on my cycle cross bike when I hit ice on a wooden bridge. I broke my femoral head also known as the hip to most. I have some hardware in there now and my running had never really made it back to the level I was at prior to my crash. Over the summer I focused on running and made a fair comeback. I don’t think I’ll ever run a 1:26 half marathon again, but I felt like I was almost there.

Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of sport?
I guess I don’t really have any time outside of sport. Hiking is a sport right? Seriously though… Since the pandemic and the loss of racing and travel I have expanded my sport. I have added Ice Climbing, Rock Climbing & Bouldering, Back Country Ski Touring, Skate Skiing, mountain biking, Gravel Rides and much more.

What is your must-have training accessory?
The training accessory that was a game changer for me was the Wahoo Kickr. I have been doing my indoor training on the Kickr with TrainerRoad since 2014. I have had every version and I am currently riding on the latest version 5.
