Sylvie completed her first sprint triathlon in 1999 in Harrison Hot Springs, BC, after having her first child, as a way to get back in shape. She didn’t race again until 23 years later when her daughter invited her to join in. After following SES for a while, Sylvie joined the Board a year later to help share useful tips and information with other ‘newbies’ like herself. She enjoys keeping things simple and low-budget, focusing mostly on fun, health, and a bit of challenge. While she tries a different race each year, Gravelman might just become a favorite repeat. She also loves discovering new race-day tips, like using maple syrup for fuel (YUM!).
